John B. Cromer

John Cromer is a Member of Burns White concentrating in civil litigation. As part of the Litigation and Construction Law groups, Mr. Cromer's practice covers the spectrum of civil litigation.

Representative cases Mr. Cromer has handled include construction litigation, product liability matters, professional malpractice claims, insurance coverage disputes, contractual disagreements, civil rights/public sector law, employment practices liability, food and beverage claims, tractor-trailer/transportation suits and personal injury claims. Recent cases have involved a highway construction dispute with a claim made of $18 million and a food-borne illness matter involving several hundred plaintiffs.

Mr. Cromer received his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio, graduating cum laude in 1992. He served as the Managing Editor of the Capital University Law Review and received the Dean's Award for outstanding student. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in 1988 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Mr. Cromer is an alumnus of the Miami University Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg.

Mr. Cromer began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to Chief Judge Tom Lambros of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, handling the US Air crash of 1992 at LaGuardia Airport.

A member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and the West Virginia Bar Association, Mr. Cromer is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, the Western District of Pennsylvania, United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the Northern District of West Virginia, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Cromer has successfully tried cases for more than 10 years in state court, federal court and in the Pennsylvania Board of Claims. He also is a firm believer in Alternative Dispute Resolution, including the use of summary jury trials. Mr. Cromer has extensive experience in representing insurance companies and has authored hundreds of legal opinion letters on a wide array of insurance topics.
