Jeffrey D. Roberts

Jeffrey D. Roberts is an Associate with the law firm of Burns White and his practice is focused in the areas of business law, electronic discovery, litigation, construction litigation, and environmental litigation. Previously, he spent four years serving in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps as military defense counsel and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.

As military defense counsel, Mr. Roberts represented military accused at courts-martial and administrative boards for charges that included rape, drug distribution and use, larceny, desertion, unauthorized absence, and assault. In the six months that Mr. Roberts served as defense counsel, he litigated over 14 cases and had two full acquittals.

As the Northern District of Florida's first full-time Special Assistant United States Attorney, Mr. Roberts was responsible for prosecuting all felony and misdemeanor offenses committed within the boundaries of the three military bases and two national parks in the district. During his tenure at the United States Attorney's Office, Mr. Roberts wrote numerous appellate briefs, argued before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, handled thirty felony cases, had three contested felony jury trials, and over 150 misdemeanor trials.

A 2000 graduate of the Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Roberts also earned a B.A. degree in Literature and graduated cum laude from Juniata College in 1997.

Mr. Roberts is licesned to practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

A native of Pittsburgh, Mr. Roberts has been recognized for meritorious service, receiving the National Park Service Law Enforcement Support Award in 2002, the M.A.D.D. Outstanding Prosecutor Award in 2003, and the U.S. Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal in March 2004.
