Chapman named to WV Judicial Reform Commission
WHEELING, WV, JUNE 16, 2009 -- Burns, White & Hickton Attorney Sandra Chapman of the firm's Wheeling office, has been named by West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin to serve on the state's Judicial Reform Commission. The Commission has nine members, including honorary chair Sandra Day O'Connor, former U.S. Supreme Court justice.
Ms. Chapman was elected president of the West Virginia State Bar in April and, in the capacity, will represent the Bar's interests on the Commission.
According to the governor's office, among the issues the Judicial Reform Commission will consider will be adopting a merit-based system of judicial selection and enacting judicial campaign finance reforms or reporting requirements.
